Two journalists were physically assaulted by the police while covering a slum eviction drive in Mirpur’s Bauniabadh area, near Kalshi. The incident took place on May 20, 2026. The injured journalists have been identified as Tasbir Iqbal, a reporter for the Bangladesh Times and Nehal Ahmed Pranto, a reporter for Bangladesh Pratidin. Both journalists sustained severe injuries during the unprovoked police assault and were subsequently rushed to a local facility for medical treatment.
