Dewan Emon, the Savar correspondent for Desh TV, was physically assaulted and subjected to an attempted abduction. The incident occurred in broad daylight on April 27, 2026, near the Savar Sub-Registrar’s office. While Emon was speaking with a colleague, the accused Sub-Registrar, Md. Zakir Hossain, approached him with a mob of 30-35 associates. The group reportedly assaulted the journalist and attempted to forcibly abduct him from the scene. Emon, who had recently reported on irregularities involving the Sub-Registrar, narrowly escaped further harm but sustained injuries that required hospitalization.
