A severe crisis has gripped the employees of the digital departments of Daily Bangladesh and Bangladesh Guardian. On March 29, 2026, staff were abruptly informed that their services would be terminated from April. By March 30, the entire organization was declared closed, leading employees to demand three months’ salary, Eid bonuses, and compensation. Despite a commitment on March 31 to provide two months’ advance salary while laying off 12 individuals, the management refused to pay Eid bonuses. Furthermore, the promised salary disbursement by April 15 was not honored. Instead, during a meeting on April 15, the Director, Asadullah (a former military officer), announced the permanent closure of the Newsportal, stating that only one month’s salary would be paid and no bonuses or compensations would be provided.
