Jago News Reporter Obstructed by Gaibandha AC Land

In Gaibandha Sadar, Anwar Al Shamim, a district correspondent for Jago News, faced severe obstruction from the local Assistant Commissioner (Land), Jahangir Alam Babu, while investigating irregularities at a fuel station. The incident occurred on April 4, 2026, at the Hasna & Hena Filling Station, where fuel was allegedly being distributed in violation of government regulations. When the journalist attempted to record the scene, the AC (Land) intervened and barred him from reporting. In a startling justification for his actions, the official claimed that an individual cannot be recognized as a journalist unless they hold membership in a Press Club.
