Ali Jamshed, the Bajitpur correspondent for Dainik Naya Diganta, was detained by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Protik Dutta following a series of investigative reports. The incident occurred around 1:00 PM on March 12, 2026, while Jamshed was at a shop in Nikli Hospital Mor. While AC (Land) Protik Dutta claimed the journalist was detained and sent to court for lacking a motorcycle driving license, locals alleged that the mobile court was specifically orchestrated to target him for his recent reports on the official’s irregularities. Reports also suggest that Jamshed was harassed during the operation, and the executive magistrate reportedly displayed unprofessional behavior toward the police and the journalist before forwarding him to court.
