Police detained Muhammad Asadullah, a journalist for Dainik Amar Desh, late at night on February 13, 2026. Members of the Kamalpur Police Outpost arrested him from Syedpur village in Hatkhali Union, Sujanagar, Pabna and later transferred him to Sujanagar Police Station. His wife, Naima Akter Rima, alleged that police picked him up from their residence around 1:00 AM. He has reportedly been shown arrested in what his family describes as a “harassing” case involving family matters. Notably, Asadullah serves as the Central Joint Convener and Press Wing head of Jatiyo Juboshakti (youth wing of NCP) and is also a member of the party’s election media subcommittee. According to Dhaka Post, he has been shown arrested in a check fraud case.
