A multimedia reporter for Daily Jaijaidin and a student of Jagannath University, Mohammad Zahirul Islam, was reportedly beaten by a local BNP leader in Dhaka. The incident took place around 10:00 PM on January 21, 2026, at the Dayaganj intersection. The accused, identified as Mahbub, is the president of the BNP’s Ward No. 40 unit under Gendaria Police Station. Reportedly, Mahbub and 10–12 of his followers dragged Zahirul into a lane and assaulted him. Police have already detained one individual in connection with this attack.
